![]() Japanese anime contains as much if not more diversity than western animation (USA and Canada). Putting aside these two definitions, I would argue that the question of whether or not ATLA/TLoK is an anime cannot really be answered, my reason being that anime does NOT have a single distinct style (art, animation, content or otherwise). In the West, however, "anime" refers specifically to Japan-made animation (by this definition, anime cannot be NOT Japanese). ![]() The word "anime", from a Japanese perspective, refers to animation in general (アニメ is short for アニメーション). The way I see it, how you respond to this question depends on your own definition of anime. I know I'm late to the party, but I just can't resist sharing my own opinion on this idea.
